In addition to that, DOT aims to offer six certificate programs to participants between the ages 9-15, including space training supported by NASA, physics, astrophysics, and variations of robotic classes.

DOT is located in Kadiköy Community and Education Center at the heart of Kadiköy, Istanbul. Therefore, it is designed with the highest attention and conservative approach to the history of the building and did not make any changes on the building’s original structure. Guesthouse -

Homeless Care Center

October-December / 2017

Guesthouse is a community center that aims to provide basic needs such as nourishment and cleaning for homeless people on a twenty-four-hour per day basis by reusing water. According to the research conducted on homeless citizens, there are seven to ten thousand live in Istanbul, and more than seventy thousand overall in Turkey. Living standards in urban areas create a threat to homeless people and constraint them from fulfilling their basic needs. Moreover, there is no other facility that provides food and cleaning services in twenty-four-hour basis annually for homeless people in Turkey.

With the information on the living standards of the homeless people, I decided to work about a care center that aims to provide both food and cleaning services. Guesthouse, created to answer homeless people needs for food and cleaning services using by reusing water for twenty-four-hours annually. It contains a restaurant with 72 people capacity at a time, and all services in this center are free for homeless visitors. Restaurant's fixed menu service schedule is; breakfast 8:00 am-10:00 am, lunch 12:00 pm-14:00 pm, dinner 19:00 pm-22:00 pm. Beside the fixed menu, any visitor can give an order from the a la carte menu in the working hours.

In the second part of the facility, cleaning services aim to provide a shower, toilet, washer, and clean clothes for the homeless visitors for free. Visitors who would like to use the cleaning facility first has to apply to the reception and create an ID to use the services. This step also helps the collection of data about homeless people in the area and uses the results to provide jobs and housing services. After creating an ID, visitors will get access to the wardrobes with the necessary cleaning equipment. Washing area aims to provide washing and drying services for twenty-four-hours for free. Lastly, the cleaning facility has a small library for anyone who wishes to spend their time reading while they are waiting for their clothes.

Art Gallery Furniture

Art Print Storage

April / 2018

Art Gallery Storage is a furniture design that is made for IMOGA Art Space Gallery in Istanbul. The customer expectations and the particular space in the gallery have shaped the design of the furniture and its main functions. Eda Tekcan, who is the director of the gallery, stated that they were willing to have furniture to store fine art prints and etching technique prints.

During the design process, hand-drawn sketches and concept modeling was done in order to create a visual sample of the furniture. The design was discussed with Eda Tekcan in order to get feedback and create a budget. After the design got approved, research was done on manufacturers so that the production could be discussed and the furniture could start being produced.
